2019/07/11-Baffin Sea. A polar bear rest on a drifting iceberg. Polar bear rely on the ice cover to rest, eat and hunt. Although polar bears are great swimmers, they can lose large amounts of body mass to find drift ice or dry land. They cannot swim up to a seal. This is why sea ice is so important to them: it gives them a platform to hunt their prey.
